PAOLO VERRI: WORKING FOR A NEW SOCIAL FABRIC

“The book man”, first director of editions and collections for various publishing firms and then the director of the Turin international book fair from 1993 to 1997, Paolo Verri has been involved with the city and its development since 1998. He was director of Turin’s strategic planning from 2000 to 2006; he directed the Fondazione Atrium Torino for the promotion of the Olympics in the towns of the Turin catchment area from 2004 to 2006; and from 2007 to 2010 he was also director of Italia 150, the committee for the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.
Born in Turin in 1966, he graduated from the Cattolica university in Milan. He has published many books and essays, amongst which Il libro in televisione (Nuova Eri, 1993), L’Italia ai tempi dei Modena City Ramblers (Giunti, 2001), and he edited the collection A schema libero – scritti sul calcio (Rizzoli, 2005). He is the founder and president of the Osvaldo Soriano Football Club, the national football team of Italian writers for which he still plays
