MARIA LUISA FRISA: THE RIGHT THING AT THE RIGHT TIME

Maria Luisa Frisa graduated in art history in Florence. She is interested in the complexity of the contemporary imaginary and in the continuous overlapping of art, fashion, design, and communications, which she combines in her activities as a university professor, critic, and independent curator.
She edits the fashion book collection for Marsilio Editore which is devoted to fashion ideas and people. With Stefano Tonchi she founded the “Westuff” independent magazine (1983-1987). For Giorgio Armani, for whom she was consultant from 1987 to 2003, she created the “Emporio Armani magazine”. She also collaborates with “L’Espresso” and “Domus”. For Alta Roma she originated “Fashion on Paper” (2009), a résumé of independent fashion magazines and publications. Since 2003 she has worked on the Laboratorium project, a label that groups together a variable nucleus of people who experiment with different aesthetic strategies within the processes of communications.
